A couple in Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, have spent eight months on making a picture made of butterfly's wings.
The picture features twelve female beauties in the 18th century Qing Dynasty novel, "Dream of the Red Mansion", known as one of China's "four greatest classics" in literary history.
46-year-old Feng Yutie, the husband, picked up his love for painting, butterfly collection and techniques of butterfly artwork when he was a student of Beijing Normal University, China's top university for teachers. However, it was during a 1992 visit of his to Taiwan that he fell in crazy love for butterfly art, as he was then very much inspired by a butterfly-made Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers painting when he was visiting a Taiwan butterfly museum with his friend.
Thanks to the long time support by Zhang Guiying, his wife, and his committed hardwork these years, Feng Yutie has become a prolific butterfly aritst. Renowned artworks of them include bufferfly pictures of four beauties from ancient China, Xi Shi (Spring and Autumn Period), Wang Zhaojun (Western Han Dynasty), Diaochan (Three Kingdoms period), and Yang Guifei (Tang Dynasty).
